Gabriel Martinelli has missed Arsenal’s Premier League game against Brighton due to a foot injury, which has also forced him out of Brazil’s international squad for the international break.
Martinelli has been in London during the international break, ahead of Arsenal’s mouth-watering Premier League game against Manchester City this weekend. He has missed the Gunners’ last league match against Brentford, as well as the Champions League game against Porto, due to his foot injury.
The injury also ruled him out of Brazil’s friendly against England and their friendly against Spain on Tuesday. Martinelli was seen in the mixed zone on crutches after the Brentford match, but it is unclear when he will make a return as he continues to recover from his injury.
He posted a picture of himself walking through Covent Garden on his Instagram story.
Martinelli has been at the heart of Arsenal’s bid for a top-tier league title this season, playing in 25 matches and scoring six goals with four assists.
Arsenal fans will hope the injury isn’t too serious as they head back to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon to take on their top-of-the-table rivals Man City.
Winning would see Arsenal move four points clear of Man City, while a loss would see City overtake Arsenal in the league.
At the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming to make it nine wins in a row in all competitions. Arsenal have scored 33 goals in their last eight Premier League games.
