COVID-19 latest: SA reports 9 203 new reported cases, 418 deaths
A further 418 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 82 914 to date.

South Africa recorded 9 203 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has said on Thursday.

This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 796 405.


This increase of 9 203 new COVID-19 cases represents a 16.1 % positivity rate.

A further 418 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 82 914 to date.

“The cumulative number of recoveries is 2 568 465.”


KwaZulu-Natal is still in the lead with the majority of new cases: 2 691 (29%), followed by Western Cape with 1 796 new cases (20%), the Eastern Cape with 1 652 (18%), and then Gauteng with 780 new cases (8%) provinces.
