Arsenal target ‘open to transfer’, Xhaka to sign new contract, Arteta faces Bayern battle

Must Read

Arsenal signed Ben White last week though Mikel Arteta is keen to do more work before the transfer window closes with the Premier League season beginning next week

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta signed Ben White last week but he’s hoping the incomings don’t stop anytime soon.

The Gunners finished eighth last season and will not feature in Europe in the upcoming campaign, which gets underway next week.

The lack of European football could be a blessing in disguise and allow Arsenal to focus on the top four battle in the Premier League.

It’s not just incomings that Arteta is focused on with names linked with moves away as well as contract deals to be done this summer.

And Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the latest transfer gossip coming out of north London…

Xhaka’s new contract

Granit Xhaka seemed destined to leave the Emirates this summer though is now set to sign a new contract in north London.

Roma were interested in the Swiss midfielder though talks are believed to have collapsed with the Serie A giants.

And The Athletic say a contract extension with Arsenal is imminent, with his new deal set to run until at least 2024.

Arteta’s Bayern battle

Arsenal and rivals Tottenham now reportedly face heavyweight competition for Marcel Sabitzer.
Bayern Munich are believed to be keen on Sabitzer, who is out of contract at RB Leipzig next summer.

The Bundesliga side are keen to cash in on him with the Gunners strongly linked, though Bild claim Bayern are working on a deal to sign the 27-year-old.
