APC will reclaim Bayelsa in 2023 – Sylva

The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva has expressed optimism the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim the state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2023.

He said this at a stakeholders meeting with leaders of the party from all the local government areas of the state and members of the State Registration Committees led by Mohammed Abba Tukur.

The Minister said despite challenges of the past, all members have resolved to bury their differences.

He assured the party will come out and become stronger after the exercise.

Urging leaders of the party to go mobilise members for the registration exercise, the Minister said the ambition of the party come 2023 is to win all the seats in both the State and the National Assemblies.

“Please let us redouble our commitments to the party. I have in mind that in 2023 this party will be stronger than ever before.



“Weather anybody likes it or not and I want to assure you that in 2023 we are going to win all the House of Assembly seats and all the National Assembly seats. That is the elections we are focused on now.”

The Minister, who is the leader of the party in the State said that in 2015, the party recorded 5 percent votes but coasted home 40 percent in 2019 while it won the governorship election before it was upturned by the judiciary.

He appealed to members to resolve their differences in the interest of the party, insisting that the APC is the party to beat in future elections in the state and country




“We are here today, we have weathered through all kinds of circumstances but look at us together in peace.

“Problems and disagreement cannot divide us, because in the end, we know that this is where (APC) the glory is.

“Sometimes we stay off, we have our differences but I am happy to announce to you that we have the inherent capacity as a party to resolve those differences and to bring back to our fold all those who had problems and decided to stay off.

“The heart of this party is so big, that anyone stray off will be re-accommodated,” the Minister assured.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Jothan Amos, expressed readiness of members for the exercise, adding they have been adequately mobilised for the exercise.
